The CAOFEN F80 Electric Dirt Bike is an electric motorcycle designed for off-road use. It is not
classified as an electric bicycle (ebike) and is not street-legal.
2. Do I need to register the off-road dirt bike?
Yes. Off-road vehicles must be registered with the Ministry of Transportation within 6 days of
purchase. Each Caofen F80 electric dirt bike will come with
a 17-digit Vin number ,
a NVIS (New Vehicle Information
Statement) form,
a bill of sale
for registration purposes. You must be 16 years or older to register an off-road
vehicle, and you must be able to prove you own the vehicle. You must pay a fee to register your off-road
vehicle. After registering, you will be given a vehicle permit and license
plate.
3. Do I need a license plate for Caofen F80 Electric Dirt Bike?
Yes. Dirt bikes must carry a license plate. For off-road use, the license plate is the green one, and
must be attached to the front of the vehicle. It does not require a renewal sticker each year.
4. Do I need a M license to ride the Caofen F80 Electric Dirt Bike?
No. You do NOT need a M license to ride a Caofen F80 Electric Dirt Bike. However, in areas where the
off-road vehicles are allowed to cross the highway, you are required to have a driver's license.
5. How to register the Caofen F80 Electric Dirt Bike?
Each Caofen F80 electric dirt bike will come with
a 17-digit Vin number,
a NVIS (New Vehicle Information
Statement) form,
a bill of sale
for registration purposes. Bring these documents and visit your
local
vehicle registration office to register the Caofen F80 as an off-road motorcycle. After paying a
registration fee, you will get a license plate and a vehicle permit.
6. Is insurance required for off-road riding of the CAOFEN F80?
Yes. If you ride your CAOFEN F80 off-road anywhere other than your own property, you must have vehicle liability insurance. You must also carry the insurance card and be prepared to show it if requested by law enforcement. If someone else uses your off-road vehicle with your permission, both of you are responsible for any penalties, damages, or injuries that may arise.
7. What is the age limit to ride an electric dirt bike?
In most
places, you must be 12 years of age or older to drive an electric off-road
dirt bike, except on land occupied by the vehicle owner or under the close supervision of an adult.
Direct and close supervision by an adult is recommended. Age requirements for riding electric dirt bikes can vary by region and local regulations. Always check local laws and guidelines regarding
age restrictions for off-road riding.
8. Do I need to wear a helmet to ride an off-road dirt bike?
Yes. You must wear an approved motorcycle helmet. Ensure that the helmet meets the approved standards for motorcycle or motor-assisted vehicle helmets and is properly fastened under the chin. In addition to a helmet, it is also recommended to wear other protective gear, including a face shield or goggles to protect against windburn, sunblindness, and debris. Cover your legs with appropriate pants, wear a long-sleeved shirt or jacket for arm protection, and use gloves for hand protection. Your boots should extend above the ankles for adequate foot and ankle coverage. For increased visibility while riding, consider wearing brightly colored clothing.
9. Is it legal to ride the CAOFEN F80 on the streets and bike paths? Can I ride the Caofen F80 on public
roads in Canada?
No, the CAOFEN F80 is not street-legal and should not be ridden on public roads, streets, or bike paths
in Canada unless permitted by local bylaw otherwsie. It is designed exclusively for off-road use.
10. Where can I use the CAOFEN F80 electric dirt bikes?
You can use the CAOFEN F80 on off-road terrains such as:
own private properties
local dirt bike trails where permitted
Crown land (Crown land is available for use by off-road motorized vehicles under the freedom of use
policy unless otherwise posted.)
You can also choose to join local dirt biking clubs, such as the Ontario Federation of Trail Riders
(OFTR). By paying a membership fee, you will have access to legal riding areas available to club members.
11. Is the CAOFEN F80 Electric Dirt Bike suitable for beginners?
Yes, the CAOFEN F80 is suitable for riders of varying skill levels, including beginners. Its lightweight, simple gearing shifting and intuitive control make it easier for new riders to learn and
enjoy off-road riding.
12. What is the difference between electric dirt bikes and conventional gas dirt bikes?
Electric dirt bikes, like the CAOFEN F80, are powered by electric motors and produce zero emissions. They
tend to be
quieter, require less maintenance, and have instant torque. In contrast, conventional gas dirt bikes use
internal
combustion engines and require gasoline, producing emissions and more noise. More importantly, electric
dirt bikes are much easier to learn compared to their gas counterparts.
